As you embark on your next renovation or custom-build project, consider the benefits of pursuing certification as you create a healthy home for yourself and the planet.

Below is a list of several third-party accreditation systems, each of varying degrees of standards and criteria, that you may wish to achieve on your next build.

Net Zero

Energy Star

Another well-known green building certification, Energy Star is offered through the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency of Canada. To qualify as Energy Star certified, your building must be at least 15% more energy efficient than traditional properties.

Passive House Canada

Passive House Canada provides solutions to the climate crisis as it works to build or retrofit a new, future-proof generation of buildings that are efficient, healthy, and durable with low environmental impacts.

Living Building Challenge (LBC)

Built Green

Regarded as one of the most stringent green building certification programs, LBC goes beyond traditional energy-efficiency metrics to promote regenerative design principles. It challenges projects to achieve net-zero energy, water, and waste while fostering social equity and ecological stewardship.

These are a selection of the most popular energy efficiency certifications offered in Canada, all of which align with our mission to build better homes throughout Vancouver Island.

Please advise if you wish to seek certification on your next Cascara Construction project, and our team will be happy to manage the process.
